Mizoram: Frequent earthquakes force locals to stay in makeshift tents outside homes; many face anxiety

Locals in Mizoram's Champai are staying in tents outside their homes, due to the regular earthquakes that have hit the northeastern state over the past month. So far, at least 22 earthquakes have rocked four districts - Champhai, Saitual, Siaha and Serchhip since June 18. The tremors ranged from 4.2 to 5.5 in magnitude. Champhai was the hardest-hit district. Champhai district Deputy Commissioner Maria CT Zuali said makeshift tents were set up at several villages by people and the district administration provided tarpaulins, water barrels, solar lamps and first-aid kits to them.
